Music Playlist created by Marcus Shelby for “Art Is… Jazz” PD
Rooftop’s program for 2007-2008, “Art Is… JAZZ,” featured accomplished composer and bassist Marcus Shelby and a performance by the Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra (MSJO) with a multi-disciplined study of a true American art form. An integrated arts curriculum was developed around a performance by MSJO playing Shelby’s musical oratorio inspired by the life of Harriet Tubman,“Harriet Tubman: Bound for the Promised Land,” held at the Swedish American Hall.
