RECIPES FOR ART PROJECTS (MORE EASY IDEAS)
IRONED PICTURES
Arrange leaves and other natural materials, bits of scrap paper and scraped bits of old crayons on a cheet of wax paper. Cover with a same sized piece of wax paper and a sheet of newsprint. Use a warm iron to press together. Beautiful hung in windows.
STRING PICTURES
Dip yarn or string in mixture of paint and Elmer's glue. Lay string on one half of paper. Fold paper over wet string. Have one child hold onto the paper as another pulls out the string.
SANDPAPER MONOPRINT
Children draw on sandpaper bearing down with a wax crayon filling in shapes with color. Place paper on top of waxy image and use a hot iron to transfer the image to the paper.
TEMPERA / CHALK MONOPRINT
Draw a chalk design. Coat another pice of paper evenly with white tempera. While tempera is still wet, place chalk drawing face down on the paint. Smooth back of paper with hand and separate before paint dries. The reversed picture is a print.
WHITE PAINT / CHALK
Child dips colored chalks into mixture of 3 parts white paint and 1 part liquid starch and draws a picture on dark blue or black paper for a brilliant effect.
MAGAZINE ART
Use colored pages from magazines to cut shapes or tear pieces for mosaic art. Add drawings of crayon paint, chalk or markers.
GLUE DRAWINGS
Child draws a picture using white glue on a dark colored paper or mat board. Once the glue line art is dry, color the picture using chalk pastels, rubbing color onto the paper with fingertips.
