Got Art? Exhibit

Our 2001 art parent orientation meeting was filled with surprises and creativity. The milk carton creations that were on display delighted all of the meeting's attendees. Clay activities were enjoyed by the children who chaperoned their parents.

The Julia Morgan Theater / Lincoln Center Model

Julia Morgan Center for the Arts (JMCA) is the Northern California affiliate of the Lincoln Center Institute Program, whose program of aesthetic education is an inquiry-based method of teaching and studying, distinguished by a unique collaboration between teaching artists and teachers. The model focuses on giving students a means to develop critical thinking skills, while building their artistic vocabulary and experience through classroom activities that relate to the works of art being studied.

This year's selected works of art are rich with opportunities for deep study. JMCA selects productions that are challenging, deeply textured works that challenge and give our students the opportunity to experience and study the work of some of the Bay Area's finest professional talent.

Rooftop Auction

The Rooftop Auction always showcases the incredible talents of our student artists and our dedicated Art Parents, while raising funds for our school. Here are samples of last year's Live Auction classroom projects.

Winter Workshop

Winter Workshop is a favorite Rooftop holiday tradition. Students from grades 1 through 5 choose from a variety of projects to create a handmade gift in this three-day workshop led by Rooftop teachers and Art Parents. Students from grades 6 through 8 can sign up to participate in a three-day afterschool workshop.

Trim A Tree at Davies Hall

Rooftop has been honored by an annual invitation to decorate a holiday tree with our children's art in the Davies Symphony Hall. The trees are showcased at the annual Deck the Hall children's party at Davies Symphony Hall. While the trees are enjoyed by all Symphony patrons who attend regularly-scheduled concerts throughout December, the trees are conceived with children in mind. Rooftop's tradition has been for every Rooftop student to create an ornament for the tree.
