2003 Live Auction Class Projects

Cruz – K "We Went to the Animal Fair" Quilt
This quilt, featuring hand-dyed and decorated squares created by Room 7’s young artists, brings a colorful animal menagerie to life.

Winship – K "Home Sweet Home"
Precious, handmade, homespun quilt by Room 3 Kindergarteners.

Kassis – K "Sea Life Mirror"
This mirror is decorated with sea creatures drawn by Ms. Kassis’ kindergarteners.

Lane – 1st Grade "Fun on the Farm" Table & Mirror
After an idyllic day on a farm, Mr. Lane’s first graders recorded their memories — in metal! Adorable sheep, goats, chicks and hens adorn this handmade hallway table and matching mirror. Wood w/aluminum accents.

Vaughn – 1st Grade "Circles Quilt"
This hand-dyed circle theme quilt features the work of the students of Ms. Vaughn’s first grade class. The students dyed cotton fabric and composed the blocks of multi-colored circles.

Zidek – 1st Grade "Mosaic Bench"
This mosaic bench is decorated with tiles that were hand painted by Ms. Zidek’s first grade class.

Corrigan – 2nd Grade "Homage to Matisse"
This ceramic picture recreates Matisse’s painting, The Purple Robe, with tiles carefully hand painted by Mrs. Corrigan’s students.

Woo – 2nd Grade "Mosaic Treasure Chest"
This mosaic treasure chest is decorated with creatures of the deep created by Mrs. Woo’s class. The chest, already filled with wishes from the class, is a perfect place to store your keepsakes and memories.

Worrell – 2nd Grade "Home Perspectives"
Inspired by the "House on Mango Street" and the students’ newly acquired photographic skills, this framed collection of art reflects the feelings of their own homes through the use of words and Andy Warhol-like artistic expressions.

Beavers – 3rd Grade "Quilted Japanese Haori"
Ms. Beavers' talented 3rd graders presents a beautiful and unique Japanese Haori (looks like a kimono jacket) for sale at the Rooftop Auction. The theme of this jacket is "Welcome to Rooftop Garden!" Ms. Beavers' class has lovingly hand painted multiple cloth squares. These squares have been hand quilted and sewn together to create a one-of-a-kind wearable art. This is a must have item for textile art enthusiasts!

Pringle – 3rd Grade "We Love Our City!"
Mr. Pringle’s class pays tribute to our beautiful City by the Bay with artwork depicting many famous and familiar sites. Their artwork is decoupaged on a fun and functional bench with ample storage under the seat.

Toupin – 3rd Grade "Dream House Quilt"
Ms. Toupin’s 3rd grade class drew black ink pictures of their Victorian
“dream houses” which they later water colored. These pieces were
then transferred onto cloth to make a lovely quilt with San Francisco charm.
Queen sized.

Callaway– 4th Grade "Peace Fountain"
This ceramic mosaic fountain features images of nature and a peace poem written by Ms. Callaway’s class.

Goorin– 4th Grade "Tree Quilt"
This beautiful quilt with a tree design features leaves drawn and painted by each child in Ms. Goorin’s fourth grade class.

Henry– 5th Grade "Animal Spirits Stained Glass Window"
From clever monkeys to beautiful birds, our 5th graders in Ms. Henry’s class have chosen their own animal totem spirits and drawn them on "stained glass." A spirited Native American piece for your sunny window.

Mattson– 5th Grade "Papercut Quilt"
Mr. Mattson’s class quilt features student-created paper cuts inspired by Matisse’s masterpiece Jazz.

6th Grade "Egyptian Self-Portrait — Girls"
This wallhanging, adorned with buttons and finery, features self portraits of the sixth grade girls painted in Ms. Sugawara’s class as they studied the art of Egypt.

7th Grade "Framed Origami Doves"
One thousand origami cranes folded by Rooftop’s seventh graders have been carefully assembled to create a framed image of two doves of peace.

8th Grade "Hot Harlem Quilt"
This hot jazz quilt features Harlem renaissance linoleum prints created by the eighth graders in a palette of reds and yellows.

This cool quilt features Harlem renaissance linoleum prints created by the eighth graders in a palette of blues.
